The main aim of the NYB is to offer talented young dancers an opportunity to participate in the creation, production and performance of ballet at a professional level. Dancers work with eminent composers, choreograhpers and teachers, gaining invaluable experience. NYB also encourages children from all walks of life to become involved with their Outreach Fit to Dance programme in schools and the community. Many alumni have contracts with major ballet and musical theatre companies throughout the world.

In 2010, NYB will present a diverse and exciting programme. Full details will be announced in the new year. We will be casting many classical and colourful character roles for a wide age range.

First round auditions in Birmingham and London will be 1 hour, giving the adjudication panel the chance to see dancers in small classes. All recalled dancers must make sure they are available all day for the final audition/casting date and the costume fitting/photo call day in May (date to be announced). Please note that 2 advance rehearsals will be called in May for some dancers cast in a ballet being premiered.

PROVISIONAL PLANS FOR THE REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SEASON
This section will be updated as soon as venues and dates are confirmed

The NYB season will be structured as last season to minimise parents’ and students’ travel expenses. Other than two advance May Sunday rehearsals in London for any ‘new work’, all rehearsals will take place within the extended 10 day Summer School. It is hoped to that as last year provincial performances will all take place during the summer holidays. The London Gala will take place on a Sunday (date and venue to be announced). Depending on that date there may be a further Sunday London rehearsal immediately prior to the Autumn Gala.

Summer School / Rehearsals
Main cast dancers will be asked to sign an acceptance form committing them to attend a residential Summer School. This season, Summer School will be held from Sunday 15th to Tuesday 24th August 2010 inclusive at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Herts.

The Junior Associates (those under 12 years of age on 01/09/10) will rehearse as day pupils during Summer School at Tring Park, Herts between Monday 16th and Tuesday 24th August.

An exciting 2010 programme which will include a new ballet with many classical and character roles for all ages will be annouced in the New Year
