NATIONAL YOUTH BALLET OF GREAT BRITAIN

AUDITIONS 2012 Silver Jubilee Season

The main aim of the NYB is to offer talented young dancers, aged 8 to 18 years, an opportunity to participate in the creation, production and performance of ballet at a professional level. Dancers work with eminent composers, choreographers and teachers, gaining invaluable experience. NYB also encourages children from all walks of life to become involved with their Outreach Fit to Dance programme in schools and the community. Many alumni have contracts with major ballet and musical theatre companies throughout the world.

In 2012, NYB will present a diverse and exciting programme, including HRH The Prince of Wales' The Old Man of Lochnagar. We will be casting many classical and colourful character roles for a wide age range.

First round auditions in Birmingham and London will be 1 hour, giving the adjudication panel the chance to see dancers in small classes. All recalled dancers must make sure they are available all day for the final audition/casting dates.

Senior finalists will be recalled for a full day workshop on Sunday 25th March 2012. This will give the choreographers an opportunity to work with the dancers prior to the final casting audiition.

The National Youth Ballet Company has been one of the most inspiring and creatively developmental environments I have ever experienced. To have that wonderful opportunity at such a young age is totally priceless. Jill Tookey is passionately fearless and has inspired me to be the same. Drew McOnie.

With such inspirational ideals it is little wonder NYB proved to be so successful.

NYB was my lifeline and world for 10 years and despite not being a dancer anymore, I carry all the lessons I learnt with me still. Jessica Brown Finlay - Actress
