A company of sixty five dancers greatly enjoyed performing at the Maltings Concert Hall. Thanks to sponsorship from HSBC’s Centre Stage project NYB were able to re-stage a colourful programme at this attractive Suffolk venue.

It was particularly appropriate that IKEN NYB should be included in the
programme. Iken church can be seen across the water from the Concert Hall
and the ballet, choreographed by Jonathan Payn, was inspired, not only Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony but the ambience of the Suffolk countryside where he was brought up.

Also included in the repertoire was Just for Fun, choreographed by Vincent Redmon, Les Petits Rats, choreographed by Janet Kinson (again both from Suffolk), and TOAD, choreographed by Wayne Sleep, with Donna Phillips acting as repetiteur and re-staging her own piece, Celtic Classic.

Children from local primary schools where the NYB Outreach Team had held Workshops attended a free dress rehearsal and were thrilled to meet some of the characters from TOAD after the show.
